spring 2020

all that you can’t be without
is already here

My Spring 2020 Collection was born in the midst of the turmoil shaking the world. Painting became my way to study and tame the flock of thoughts inside of my mind. How to deal with the uncertainty of everything? How to be true in the midst of a change you cannot control?

All these paintings have been born very intuitively; their shapes and colours seemed to emerge of their own accord, reflecting thought processes and emotions I found at the studio. These paintings speak of a stubborn, persistent hope; one that is not just woolgathering but a perseverant grasping of a force that gently changes the reality of the world. They speak of a connection with others - of how nothing might be as risky as love but nothing makes us as real and true either. They share stories of the things we couldn’t be without; of what remains when everything seems to be changing.

This Spring I’ve thought a lot of how we don’t have time for anything else than the most real, most authentic life; a crisis shows well how easy it is to be sidetracked by fear or worry, and how life might slip by unnoticed. I’m more hungry than ever for more life that’s broad and focused instead of a fractured, fearful existence - these paintings tap into that broadness, sharing the longing for truth and honest courage.

Every piece in the collection consists of both colour and text; a painting and a poem.
